We both Love Shoes!!

A favourite recollection which would send us into gales of laughter, which was a common occurrence when Chris was around, was when Chris wanted to go for a pre Christmas trip to John Lewis's in Watford. Both of us love shoes to the extent that we'd go to great lengths to purchase another pair.

She insisted that we get up at some unearthly hour on a Saturday morning to beat the traffic and queues in Watford. She knew I wasn't, and still am not, a morning person. She was knocking on my door at 7.30am insisting we had to go now! Grabbing my bag and munching a piece of toast I dutifully got in the car and off we drove. Nearing Watford I glanced down at my feet and squealed, " Oh my goodness, I still have my slippers on!"

"Oh never mind" says Chris, "You can buy a pair of shoes when we get to John Lewis's."

Which we did.

Shoes and Chris...I can remember several occasions when Chris would look down at her feet and say, "Oh my goodness, I have odd shoes on!!" You see she had several pairs of black and navy blue shoes which all looked very similar, but just a tad different, of course, They were all lined up in her cloakroom and being a person who did not like to be late.....

For a few years Chris sent me "shoe" ornaments which have sat on my dressing table alongside this photo of Chris taken just before I left for NZ 21 years ago.

Just as an aside when I arrived here in NZ, I was both shocked and surprised to see people down at the supermarket in their slippers, especially on a Saturday morning. A much more relaxed atmosphere over here :) :)
